“Sri Lanka’s Government Revenue increased by 23% in the first 9 months of 2016” – Result ‘True and Correct’

FactCheck Sri Lanka verified the latest data of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s Statistics Department and the details outline that, for the period of first 9 months of 2016, in nominal terms, total revenue of the Government of Sri Lanka increased by 23.0% to Rs. 1,179.3 billion during the period from Rs. 958.9 billion recorded during the same period in 2015. Accordingly average monthly revenue during the period was around Rs. 131.0 billion compared to Rs. 106.5 billion recorded in the same period of 2015.

Furthermore Government revenue as a percentage of estimated GDP increased to 9.6% from 8.5% in the corresponding period in 2015.
